This opening keynote address will outline the Injury Center’s priorities for addressing prescription drug overdose. Dr. Houry’s talk will focus on CDC’s prescribing guidelines, collaborative responses to the epidemic, and progress made in North Carolina, including the Prescription Drug Abuse Advisory Committee.

The closing session will discuss the new NC Opioid Action Plan which was developed with input and ideas from many Prescription Drug Abuse Advisory Committee partners. The Plan identifies specific, tangible action steps that will have the greatest impact on reducing the burden of death and addiction from the opioid epidemic.
