Project Director-NC Div. of MH/DD/SAS

Martin has worked in the behavioral health field for over 30 years with an emphasis on addictive disorders.  Initially in the US Air Force where he grew from providing counseling to those in need on various bases to managing addictions clinics, to being handpicked to join the Inspector General’s team where he traveled throughout Asia inspecting clinics.  He was also instrumental in designing the Air Force’s initial Counselor Certification program. 

Upon retirement, he continued to work within the addictions field in Raleigh initially as a supervisor to becoming the Director of the Alcoholism Treatment Center (ATC) and then the Executive Director of all ATC services until the programs were divested and operated by UNC Healthcare/ School of Medicine where Martin continued serving as the Program Director of their residential addictions treatment program. Martin currently works for the State Division of MH/DD/SAS as a Project Director focusing on creative recovery, peer and Veteran support opportunities in multiple counties which increase quality of life within communities.
