KC Buchanan (they, them, theirs) is a Queer, macro-oriented MSW, a NC native, and a deep lover of dogs and super spicy foods. They attended Appalachian State University for both their BSW and MSW education and worked within the anti-intimate partner and sexual violence movement in NC for the past 3 years. They recently started in their dream job at the LGBTQ Center of Durham as the Case Manager for the Center’s new Host Home Program for youth experiencing homelessness in and around Durham. They have also been a grassroots leader in the LGBTQ+ movement in NC, having founded OUT in the High Country – a grassroots advocacy group based in Boone. KC feels honored to be working in the movement to end youth homelessness, especially with and for Queer and Trans youth and youth of color, and is deeply passionate about engaging in social justice work that aims to truly create equity and justice across systems.
